Brilliant visit to the stunning Rochdale Town Hall
On Sunday, 10th May 20 HCS members and guests enjoyed a wonderful visit to Rochdale Town Hall.
This is a Grade I listed building designed by William Crossland which opened in 1871 and symbolised Rochdale’s rich industrial standing in the textile trade.
According to Historic England, it’s ornate stylings and Victorian Gothic architecture are rivalled only by the Palace of Westminster. The tour included the Great Hall, The Old Council Chamber, The Exchange and many others.
Rochdale Town Hall began a period of extensive restoration in 2021 which is now complete and further information on this can be found at https://www.rochdaletownhall.co.uk/conservation/restoration
