West Yorkshire Archive Service open day in Huddersfield

West Yorkshire Archive Service Kirklees and Kirklees Local Studies Library will be hosting an open day in Huddersfield.

The event on Saturday, May 25, from 10am to 3pm will be at the service’s premises on Victoria Lane to mark Local History Month.

Original documents relating to Kirklees’ rich and diverse heritage will be on display in the archive search room and there will be opportunities for members of the public to go on tours of the strongroom and take a glimpse behind the scenes at the archive.

Kirklees Local Studies will also be hosting a new exhibition called Beyond the Baseline, produced in partnership with the British Library, which celebrates Black British music as a form of entertainment and a source of liberation, protest and education.
