The society has no objection to the proposal, subject to retention of any internal features contemporary with the building’s original purpose. Any future signage on the Bath Street frontage should be strictly limited and designed so as not to detract from the architectural/historic integrity of the building.

It is to be hoped that the residential units will be available to other than students as it is felt that the latter market is saturated and would have limited benefits in the regeneration and economic vitality of the area around St. George’s Square.

The society supports the idea of a blue plaque to commemorate the Hall of Science and its historic associations. The plaque is being considered by Huddersfield Local History Society.
