The society believes that any internal features relating to the architectural significance of this building should be retained. We have some concerns regarding the process by which the local planning authority can determine this application given the lack of any strategy for the development of residential accommodation with the town centre.
Given the likelihood of an increasing numbers of vacant premises and upper floors, how will the Council determine the balance of varying needs and opportunities for a variety of tenures, age groups and needs?
This site fronts New Street which will be subject to comprehensive refurbishment with the Council’s Blueprint programme. Should similar applications be received on this street what are the strategic means of dealing with housing applications as well as the practical issues such as waste disposal and collection?
